Co-Founders & Inventors of SolarTechTRU

From semiconductors to semi-trailers, AEM founders Ronald and Robert Koelsch have been engineering innovative products and building specialized business relationships for over thirty years.

AEM combines years of education and experience in engineering, science, industry, sales, marketing and business management with patented technology to provide customers with engineering feats that lives depend on, products and equipment that are cost-effective, and commercially viable.

About AEM

AEM.GREEN is an innovative R&D and manufacturing organization that created the SolarTechTRU, which has earned its status as the only solar, full-electric TRU that achieves zero emissions, functions on low voltage DC power, requires no maintenance, no diesel fuel, helps reduce and remove its customers’ reliance on the grid, and that is reliably serving range demands of reefers through its proprietary and protected technology, including completely safe, ai-based automatic charging.

American engineered, American made.

Robert Koelsch ("Kelsh")

AEM CEO, Co-Inventor of SolarTechTRU

Robert comes with 25 years in the semiconductor industry leading the engineering and commercialization of groundbreaking developments involving LED technology. Robert has also designed and implemented manufacturing processes for companies such as Intel and Motorola using plasma physics to analyze efficient manufacturing techniques for products like the Pentium chip. This has resulted in his involvement in several high-profile patents. It comes natural to Robert to analyze complex data, achieve unprecedented yields, and to innovate commercially viable products that shake up industries, and that set new standards.

Inventions

Robert has collaborated on multiple valuable inventions including Circuity for First Honda Air Bags, Light Emitting Diode Technology, Manufacturing processes for Pentium Chips & Similar products for Motorola & Intel. Advancements in Silicon Sensors, & Solar powered refrigeration for semi-trailers.

Additional inventions listed in the list of patents and patents pending.

Roberts Entrepreneurial spirit has enable him to start several successful ventures including: Sputtered Films Inc., Wafer Standards Inc, and Advanced Energy Machines, LLC

Circumstances surrounding the sicknesses and deaths that have been directly linked to the black carbon (PM2.5 and NOx) that emits from diesel-powered Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs), fueled Dr. Ronald and Robert Koelsch to engineer the country's first zero emission (ZE) TRU for the largest food distributors in California, and the nation.

Starting in 1985, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set emission standards for NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) and PM (Particulate Matter) with heavy duty diesel engines.

California Air Resources Board (CARB) amended the 2004 ATCM, and started officially regulating diesel-powered TRUs in 2010 and 2011 by creating goals around the development of a zero emission TRU solution for the sake of highly concerning public health studies involving Californians, and especially for residents and employees in close proximity to these diesel-powered TRUs.

In 2008, Advanced Energy Machines (AEM) began converting Carrier and Thermo King diesel-powered TRUs to all-electric, high voltage AC TRUs. High voltage immediately terrified the Koelsch Brothers, so they decided to engineer a completely safe zero emission solution for California food distributors and cold storage operators.

They worked diligently for 10 years to develop a solar, all-electric transportation refrigeration units (TRUs) that performs as reliably, if not better, than the industry's diesel-powered TRU counterparts. The SolarTechTRU was approved as a viable zero emission alternative to diesel-powered TRUs in California per CARB. AEM has been successfully converting diesel-powered TRUs to their SolarTechTRU system since 2012.

It's interesting that clean air initiatives, of all types, focus on emissions from car, truck, and semi-truck engines while these diesel-powered refrigerated trailers between 28'-53'(reefers) generate an average of 27 tons of very toxic black carbon per year; enough to kill approximately 9 people per year. Plus, converting TRUs is a far more financially appealing feat for CFOs and Boards of Directors to embrace.

SolarTechTRUs are 1/3 of the cost of electric semi-trucks, they go the distance without any range anxiety, and the SolarTechTRU comes with a variety of credits and incentives that keep paying back cold storage operators and food distributors, every year.

AEM customers Go Green In the Black because the SolarTechTRU system eliminates three massive expense line items for cold-storage and food distributors, and comes with clean air and safety incentives that create wins for all, every year.

No more diesel expenses.

No more electricity expenses.

No more cleaning soot and overall maintenance expenses.

No more fines, and health and danger lawsuits.

AEM's SolarTechTRU has been helping California achieve zero emissions while eliminating fatal electrocution dangers, as well as eliminated fears such as range anxiety. AEM’s proprietary and patent-protected TRU is the only zero emissions solution of its kind in the industry, and it’s indeed setting new standards for ridiculously safe and reliable refrigerated transportation, and for solar electric efficiencies.
